Core Competency League
The 2010 Winter Phoenix Area Warhammer Society Core Competency League is an ongoing 6 month event meant to bring together Warhammer Fantasy players in the Valley into a League that focuses on having great games with great people. The League will be organized and played similar to an NFL season. Each participating player will play 10 season games (one game every two weeks) against a different opponent according to a schedule of games. Each game will generate battle points, sportsmanship points and composition points contributing to a season point total. Depending on the number of players who sign up the players will be divided into Divisions. The winner of each Division at the end of the season and a few wild card armies will make the playoffs and fight it out to determine the overall winner for the League. Each army will draft territories at the beginning of the season that they control. Each game, players can use territories in their games for slight advantages and each player wagers a territory he may lose if he loses the game.
The players will generate a Lord at the beginning of the season that will stay the same during the season. You may change your list between games if you wish as long as you keep the same Lord. The games will be at 2250 points (possibly modified by territories). The armies do not have to be painted and beginners are welcome. There will be a minimal cost ($20) to play in the league that will cover trophies and prize support.
The CORE COMPETENCY aspect of the league will mean that each army will have to have 900 points in CORE troops (High Elves 600) and 700 points or less in CHARACTERS. This is a twist that will modify the way people build armies.
If you want to have an amazing warhammer gaming experience then please sign up and prepare to have a great time. The league is being put on by the Phoenix Area Warhammer Society and is not connected to any store in the Valley. The group supports all of the locale stores.
Divisions will be arranged by which game store you select as your home store in the valley. You will play roughly half your games in your division and the play location will default the home players home store if the players can't come up with a mutually agreeable play location.
Players draft order for territories will be based on time of registration for the first season.
